Meditate On These Things

Muddy Waters

There be muddy waters up ahead,
Look for the bodies of the dead,
When the flood waters rise
Somebody always dies,
There be muddy waters up ahead.

The song's as old as time I'm sure,
A river captain knows the water's lure,
Those too long asleep have drowned,
Now rest in peace beneath the ground.

There be muddy waters up ahead.
There are no long shadows anymore,
The last floods have washed away the shore,
Old songs cross the delta chill my soul,
When I see the muddy river roll.
There be muddy waters up ahead.

Hush my child it's time watch and pray,
Least that's what the old folk say,
Be mindful of the tide,
The river's deep and wide,
There be muddy waters up ahead.

Chase the day say the captain, look ahead,
I remember every word that he said,
Oh, Little ones be brave,
Remember Jesus save.....
There be muddy waters up ahead.
